How Good is NZ – Alive in New Zealand – Ep 15

Run the poo over. Quote of November and included in the video, as it should.

The “little hole in the boat” quote is also worth noting. The food runs and some of the weather in November was bloody epic!

As for what’s coming up, if you’re subscribed to OXS TV you probably already know!

See you at the beach.

White Island Spearfishing

Being fairly new to spearfishing I haven’t really got around too much yet. After diving White Island last week I have now realised that I must in fact, get around some more.

Good viz, plenty of fish and a good couple crew of guys. Check the video below for the details.

220m of water, one log and one Kingfish already in the boat.

This guy was trying to score himself a feed.

This blue water!

Friendly little guys these Mau mau. Tasty too.

Just a Helicopter parked on an active volcano.

When a school rolls through and you’re armed with nothing but a camera.

Big bug!

Day 1 transport.

There’s a tiny little fish on the right of this frame. It was trying to hide from the bigger bait fish. It’s a eat or be eaten kind of world.

That’s it for this post. As I want to cover it far more extensively I will be making another trip!

Cheers to all the guys I went with!

See you at the beach.

Surfing & Big Snapper – Alive in New Zealand – Ep 14

Producing a series about living is ironically hard to do when you’re so busy out and about living.

I remember Winter vividly as it feels about twenty minutes ago. It was fun, long and I chose to start the move into a van. In this episode there’s a couple of months crammed into one episodea s a lot of my time was ties up with a van build. Heeeeere you go

As for what’s coming well I can assure you the weather and action turned on from November which is where I’m up to.

See you at the beach!

2017 – The Best Year Yet!

To say I learnt a lot this year is an understatement. I don’t really believe in a 5 year plan because things change so much. I’m finishing up this year in a completely different position that I could’ve even imagined at the start of the year. Even 6 months ago taking a stab at where I would be at the end of the year I would’ve been dead wrong.

It’s been fun, it’s been challenging, I built a van to live in, met a lovely lady, swam with sharp teeth, ate a heck of a lot of fish and almost drowned about 400 times.

Last Sunday had a few of those sharp teeth I mentioned.

As for 2018 I really have no idea what’s going to happen except for the fact that it’s going to be a heck of a lot of fun. I will also be trying to build a fun email list so if you want to sign up to it then go here.

Lastly, thank you to those I’e spent time with this year it’s rally been a blast. I hope you’ve learnt a few things like I have and want to grow on it all.

Have a great break and rip into 2018!

See you at the beach!

How To Launch & Land A Drone In a Boat By Yourself

Boat launching your drone can be a wonderful or horrifying experience depending on your results. Having had more than my fair share of launch and lands I thought it was time to put something together about how I do it, by myself.

Now obviously with someone helping this process is quite a bit more simple but all of the tips can be simplified if you have a “catcher”. The full video is here

Here’s my most important things to consider.

  1. Battery. Battery. Battery. Take your time and do your normal checks.
  2. Consider the compass if you have plenty of steel around.
  3. Work out which way you’re drifting.
  4. Give yourself time to launch and land.
  5. I prefer to drift into the drone on landing rather than steer the drone into the boat.

Would like to do a few more of these so will see how we go!

Sharks at Omaha – Ep 1

It’s no surprises to see sharks at the beach. I spend half my life in the water and see plenty. Sometimes they steal my fish.

Yesterday during our late arvo surf we spotted a few fins and realised they were Hammerhead sharks swimming around so the drone was deployed and this was the result

I estimate I saw about 10 of them all ranging from 4-6ft in length and were all out the back of the waves except for a coupe that we saw in the whitewash when we were surfing.

Yo can see the proximity to the waves here.

I will try to keep everything updated with information as I get it as I will be doing a little research on them. This is no reason for alarm as they are there every year and aren’t interested in us humans.

See you at the beach!

Going Out On Your Own

The road to self employment is a piece of cake and everyone should do it.

Now that I have your attention I will come clean, That first line isn’t true. For most anyway.

Self employment for me is about a dream. Not just a boring business that I copy and paste a how to from others. It’s about creating what I view is my dream life and living each day as I want to. This isn’t at all easy.

Last week we shot to the Far North to help my parents with their little slice of rocky roaded self eployment. You can find Saturday here

They have had easily enough of their own problems incl that big shed burning down but boy, what an amazing process for the produce.

Sunday morning we were up and looking to score a feed (thumbnail hints as to how it went)

Back to self employment. As far as my dream goes, in my mind I want to go skim, surf, spear, run my brand and shoot content all day.

The complications arise when you actually have to make a few bucks from these things because life is expensive. One thing I’ve always had from the start is product to sell and I’m always looking to expand this. Selling is hard but when it’s your own product but boy, it’s satisfying. Anytime someone wants to fork out their hard earned cash on something I made makes the pursuit of the dream worth it!

Producing content is much harder than selling product as it requires far more of my time invested, for much less income. If I wasn’t so passionate about it, I wouldn’t be doing it. For some reason I love it!

Oh and on a sales orientated pitch you can sign up to my mailing list here.

On that note, I will see you at the beach!

Fulfilled

About 95% of what I do I find quite fulfilling. My work is certainly that, my hobbies (which I’m trying to make into work) are fulfilling and the people I spend time with add to all this.

I don’t buy into the fact that we all need to go to uni and have boring careers all our lives. The race to “get ahead” when no one knows what they’re getting ahead of.

As a country our mental health statistics are shocking and you only have to look around to see how our physical health is looking. Divorce is what… 50% or so?

Basically what I’m getting at is fulfillment is what makes me tick. Am I a great example? Probably not. Do I reaaaaally enjoy what I do and want to do it more? Yes! Below is an example

I will target a group here for an example but if you’re into your 30’s and doing nothing but working, eating pies and drinking every weekend away…. You. Need. To. Go. Find. Fulfillment.

Put a list together of all those things you’ve always wanted to do. You need to get your own physical and mental wellbeing into a good place where you want to get up. Your social circle needs to add to this. Your partner, if you have one, needs to encourage this. YOU need to.

If you don’t you’ll be let wondering what could’ve been and no one wants that.

Anyway, I’m off to the Far North in a few hours and if you’re looking to sign up to a mailing list then sign up to mine here.

See you at the beach!

Wake Winches & Why They Cost So Much

As far as fun beach toys go, a motorized rope that can “tugg” me along at speed on a selection of watercraft is up towards the top of the list.

Winch 2 blog

A winch as most people call them is the go to. Think wakeboarding without a boat. I set up and developed Tugg Winches here and so far it’s met my expectations of everyone wanting one but not wanting to pay for one.

The most common thing I get asked is why do they cost so much? Clearly people would like to pick one up with their packet of Twisties from the shop but it’s not the case. Check the video below

Prices vary plenty build to build but as you may be able to tell they are not cheap to build. Just like everything else with a motor. If you would like to know more about my winches or to see more footage then click for the playlist here.

If you would like to know more then fire me an email sam@oxsenterprises.com

Lastly you can sign up to my new (or newly used) email list here.

Until then, I will see you at the beach!
